Thing 1 & Thing 2 Cupcakes

This post originally appeared on my first blog, Amy's Cooking Adventures, in September 2012.

These fun Thing 1 & Thing 2 Cupcakes were for a little girl's Dr. Seuss themed 3rd birthday!

The birthday girl wanted Thing 1 & Thing 2 cupcakes with lots of fun swirls!

Here’s what you’ll need to make these cupcakes:

1 recipe Sour Cream Chocolate cupcakes
Blue sugar sprinkles
Red Cupcake Liners (found at Michael’s)
1 batch of Royal Icing, tinted sky blue

Bake and frost the cupcakes.  To make the swirls, cut waxed paper into small squares.  Use thin royal icing to make a swirl shape on each piece of waxed paper.  Dry flat for at least 24 hours.  Just before serving, peel the swirls off the waxed paper and push gently into the cupcakes.
